GARES FERROVIAIRES

Train

There are two main train stations in Genoa, Brignole (east) and Principe (west), at almost equal distance from the center, which can be reached on foot or by bus. Luggage lockers in both. Principe is the main rail hub of the area, but most trains also stop in Brignole. The metro connects the two in a few minutes (tickets available at tobacconists). For any connection with France, change trains in Ventimiglia, from there direct trains to Nice and Menton. Otherwise, you have to go through Milan or Turin.

FERROVIA GENOVA CASELLA

Railway station

Still in operation, this small old station is located to the northeast of the city. It connects Genoa to the interior along a picturesque one-hour route, perfect for a green excursion. This narrow-gauge railroad, friendly namedIl Trenino di Casella, runs slowly along a 25 km mountainous route and makes 18 stops to its terminus Casella Paese. Between scattered houses and pine forests, you will discover characteristic villages such as Campi and Sant'Olcese (and its salami), fortresses and ancient sanctuaries.
