Five of them are located in Fréjus itself (les Sablettes, République, le Capitole, Port-Fréjus and the beach of the nautical base); three others are located in Saint-Aygulf (plages de l'Argens, des Esclamandes and de la Galiote). With its 800 meters long and its comfortable width, Saint-Aygulf is one of the largest beaches of the territory of Eastern Var. Nice for families, it is also popular with kite surfers and windsurfers because the wind is frequent.

Read moreFed by the Mirail spring, Etang de la Bonde is the largest lake in the Luberon. Swimming is supervised from July1 to August 31 on the main beach. In addition to the large beach near the campsite, there are a number of south-facing beaches at the foot of the Aleppo pine-wooded hillside, offering quieter, unsupervised swimming. In high season, it's best to go early in the morning. A few pedal-boats are available for the crossing.
LAC DE CURBANS-LA SAULCE
Read moreLocated in the bed of the Durance, on the municipalities of Curbans and La, this artificial lake was bottled in 1975 by EDF. The water plan is also fed by the water from the leak canal of the electricity production plant which flows into upstream. A 17-metre dam, used to regulate the waters of the Sisteron canal, was built downstream. You can stay in one of the two campsites on the East Bank, on the side of Cubans. Fishing is permitted in certain sectors (see conditions), like canoeing and bathing. Côté la Saulce, its west bank, consists of a relatively steep land dike. During migration in April-May and August-September, many naturist settled and observed birds with long views. The north bank has a relatively quiet plateau.

Read moreThe Louis GO water sports base is located in an exceptional and particularly protected setting, in the middle of the steep cliffs of the Roquebrune rock. This municipal water sports base for canoeing and paddle boarding is supervised by state instructors, a real plus. Different formulas for renting canoes and kayaks and paddle boards are available, but it is advisable to book 3 or 4 days in advance. The only requirement for this type of activity is that you know how to swim! A shaded picnic area is at your disposal.

On the shores of the lake, you can enjoy picnics and beautiful walks, as this is the starting point for hikes to the Gorges de la Nesque. A GR bridle path joins the GR9, taking you to the 12th-century chapel of Saint-Michel, which is well worth the detour. In the gorges you'll discover a world like no other. Fields of lavender, Provence's blue gold, stretch as far as the eye can see.

THE SORGUE

The clarity and quality of the water, and its constant temperature of 13°C, make it a first-category river. Its waters have long been renowned for their trout.
