LE CABARET ALÉATOIRE

Pop rock and variety concert hall
5/5
1 review

This «industrial cathedral» is one of the essential places of the Marseilles scene. Created in 2002, Le Cabaret Random is a theater, but also a club located in the heart of the Ravhe de la Belle de May, a former tobacco factory transformed today into a cultural pole with over 70 structures bringing together artists and producers. The Cabaret, well known for the Marseillais, can accommodate more than 100 people depending on events and is aimed at an audience wishing to make sound discoveries ranging from electro to hip-hop through rock, soul, funk…................................................ focused on "emerging emerging urban cultures". In the summer, programming is partly on the roof of the mountain. Also note the quality of the sound system reviewed in 2012, probably the best in the city. Many artists and groups played on this scene, Hindi Zahra, Soom T, Justice, Major Lazer, Wu Tang Clan, Woodkid, Pete Doherty, Aloe Blacc, Laurent Garnier, M 83, Kendrick Lamar, Tricky, Orelsan, Kendrick Lamar, Tricky, Ten Years After, Mudhoney, Girls, Black Lips, etc. We can't all quote them, but you can go with your eyes closed, provided you have your ears open. Only regret, shame that the place is so little accessible at night and at night. The solution is walking, not so far away from the Longchamp neighborhood.

LE CEPAC SILO

4/5
5 reviews

Near the Docks of La Joliette, this former wheat silo dates from 1927. Rehabilitated in 2011, it is now a performance hall dedicated to artistic programming: concerts, dance, theater, comedy... Labeled as a "20th century heritage site", its development is part of the Euroméditerranée project. A masterpiece of acoustics, visibility and comfort, meticulously studied. Discover this Italian-style theater, a room divided into three balconies with a modularity in "all seated" and "standing" version. This is where the great artists perform in Marseille.

L’INTERMÉDIAIRE

Pop rock and variety concert hall

The intermediary is a known place of all those who visit the plain of the plain at night. We'd think it's always been implanted there. He made a new skin a few months ago, not changing the concept. Concerts, djs and guaranteed accessibility for all parties and curious around the corner. The size of the site was slightly reduced since the floor is now no longer open. This does not alter the quality of its local and diversified programming in all musical genres.

ESPACE JULIEN

Pop rock and variety concert hall

Since 1984, the Julian space has been the reference for the Marseille Alternative Concert Hall. Located on the Ju course, the concert hall and coffee are musical spaces where Djs animate memorable evenings and the programmers take date for their artists. The Espace Julien can accommodate up to 1,000 people and remains one of the indispensable scenes for contemporary music. An eclectic programming that connects as much with hip-hop as rock, electro or text song. Over 30 years of existence and the Espace Julien did not take a ride: always familiar with national and international musical news. Some parties are free and on registration via the website, especially within the Julien Café, a more intimate space open to local producers and artists to meet their audience. Unavoidable!

Le Moulin is a former neighbourhood cinema and theatre, formerly known as the "Moulin bleu", not far from the enormous Dome. Today, new premises, new gauge with 1,450 seats, and new programming. A club of 350 people offers DJ nights, not forgetting artistic and technical support for local artists (SMAC system).

One of the most important scenes of French rap and hip-hop and which received the label of "Scène de musiques actuelles". An essential venue in Marseille which develops a work of accompaniment with artists and labels of the territory of Bouches-du-Rhône. CHERRYDON

Pop rock and variety concert hall

Cherrydon is a rather famous concert hall in the region. For many years, it has mainly specialized in "tribute" concerts (Led Zeppelin, Sting...). Every month, the Cherry' develops a dense programming rather focused on rock and variety. The audience is rather composed of forty and fifty year olds, the atmosphere is good and without any headache. The look-alike shows (Sardou, France Gall...) are particularly appreciated. A nearby restaurant, the Comme à la maison, will welcome you in the early evening. A real piece of local popular culture, atypical. From time to time, American big names perform there.

LE MOLOTOV

Pop rock and variety concert hall

The reopening of the ex-Balthazar in 2012, the mythical venue of the Massilia Sound System group, was greeted with relief. There is still room for small concert halls, associative venues often struggling with neighbourhood problems. A new name for a small venue taken over by the O'Bundies team from the Marseilles punk scene: Le Molotov. Hardcore, Occitan rock, sound system, hip-hop, raggaoili, ska or gypsy jazz, electro, we understand that the underground remains the guiding thread for programmers, open to all so-called alternative musical styles. Young and not so young audience. Find the programming online on the website.
