When to go aux Bahamas ?

There is no rainy season in the Bahamas, but short daily showers are very light in winter and turn into a "tropical shower" of about an hour from May to October. The slowest period is from September to mid-October, which is the hurricane season and when many Out Islands resorts close for the year. Please note that hotel rates drop by 20 to 40% during the low season.

The Bahamas, crossed by the Tropic of Cancer, enjoys a pleasant climate all year round thanks to the presence of the Gulf Stream. The average temperatures vary between 25 and 32°C during the day, and between 18 and 24°C at night. As for the water temperature, it varies between 24 and 30°C.

The Bahamas is a pleasant destination in any season. However, there are two periods that are popular with visitors. The busiest time of the year, which is the peak tourist season and the highest rates, is winter (mid-December to mid-April), with the holiday season representing the peak of the major visitation. During the dry season, from April to December, the winds are more present and the water temperature is cooler; from April to December, it is the summer period: the temperature is significantly higher (up to 33°C), as well as the humidity level; the frequency and intensity of daily rainfall increases. This period is also popular with tourists from Europe and Canada. The low tourist season lasts from September to mid-October, the hurricane season. Many establishments close. For those that remain open, hotel rates drop by 20 to 40%.

Ideas for holidays and week-end breaks aux Bahamas

The Bahamas archipelago is mainly visited by plane (unless you travel on your own boat), as it is much larger than is generally imagined. With more than 800 km between Freeport in the northwest and Inagua in the southeast, flights can last an hour or more. Most of the air links between the islands are from Nassau, but there are local options through small private companies such as Stella Maris, which links Long Island to Exuma for example. Here we offer you a range of packages to suit the length of your trip, but you can also build your own tour with detailed information on the routes and the companies that operate them. Don't be too greedy in your program and take into account that travelling within each island can also take time.

Discover les Bahamas

The Bahamas is not limited to its hundreds of miles of pristine beaches and turquoise waters that fill the dreams of travellers. The Bahamas is also an eventful history of piracy, emancipation of slaves and tourism development, as well as a world-renowned wildlife, both land and underwater, and above all a welcoming and proud population that is proud to share its wonderful garden, its Junkanoo carnival, its gastronomy, its regattas and its music with visitors from all over the world. The Bahamas is also a rare biodiversity which can be the theme of a complete trip throughout the archipelago or simply a getaway to go swimming with the free dolphins of Bimini for example. In the following section, we will try to make you discover, or rediscover, the little known historical, cultural and geographical facets of this terrestrial paradise.
