GIANT SLEEPING

" The sleeping giant "is the name given to the mountains of the Sabeto Valley located north of Nadi and whose shape resembles a man lying on his back. We see, profile, its peaceful face, and then its extended body carved by the mountains. SIGATOKA VALLEY

The area is also called the "salad bowl" because only fruits and vegetables grow here. The Sigatoka Valley is deeply eroded by limestone outcrops along its banks. It was a major settlement area centuries ago, its configuration making it a very protected area and therefore easy to defend. The Tavuni Hill Fort is a fine example of the fortified hills that once lined its banks. Most importantly, its river provided a means of communication between the inland and coastal inhabitants.

THE GROWING STONE

It's a little stone that, 20 years ago, was not bigger than a big rock and which, by a unexplained phenomenon, started growing, growing, growing, up to a height of almost 3 m. Impressed by the miracle, Indo-Fijians from the Region immediately built around the stone. temple Naag Mandir. Decorated with flower collars, supervised by the numerous representations of Shiva, the stone, which strangely takes the form of a snake, has become a very important symbol of the region and a place of permanent worship. Don't forget to remove shoes, sunglasses and hats before entering the small temple.

FIJI CULTURE VILLAGE

Local history and culture

A visit to the Fiji Culture Village will give you access to a digest of Fijian culture, so it's an interesting experience. Tours include a kava ceremony, Fijian cuisine and a traditional meke dance performance. Prices include transfers from your hotel in Nadi or Port Denarau. The village is open every day except Sunday, but you need to make sure in advance that a visit will take place on the day in question (a minimum number is required for the tour to go ahead).
