What budget for activities and outings Tunisia?

Many activities can be practiced in Tunisia: visits of heritage sites, water sports in (large) number such as diving, kitesurfing, stand-up paddle or other sea outings, but also cooking classes, hiking, etc. The landscapes are varied and the walking options are endless, often on very beautiful and little frequented sites. What budget to eat Tunisia?

The price ranges really vary from one place to another in Tunisia, but also from the type of restaurant. You will easily find full meals for a budget around 10 €. You will also find some unpretentious local addresses where you can eat on the go for a few dinars. In the tourist areas, prices sometimes soar without the quality being there. Here are some price indications: for a meal, count around 60 DT to 100 DT for a meal in a listed restaurant (excluding wine), 15 to 25 DT in standard Tunisian cuisine restaurants, 3 to 8 DT for a snack. Coffee: 1 or 2 DT in a popular café; between 2 and 5 DT in a more chic café. Pastries: around 3 DT.

For a tea or a coffee, count around 1 DT in the medinas or in the city center, up to 3,50 DT in restaurants or hotels.

You will find in Tunisia a wide variety of accommodations: from the all-inclusive hotel-club to the one-room guest house, but also very nice luxury hotels or very basic "city hotels". Bed and breakfasts have developed all over the country, a pleasant way to travel in Tunisia to be close to the inhabitants. Prices vary enormously from one season to the next, sometimes doubling. Here are some prices to give you an idea. Hotel room: from 100 to 400 TND in a luxury hotel, from 90 to 150 TND in a 3-star hotel and from 20 to 50 TND for unclassified hotels. Concerning the guest houses, the prices are sometimes posted in euros, it is then necessary to count between 40 and 150 € for a double room with breakfast.

Travel budget Tunisia and cost of living

Tunisia is not a very expensive country, but if you want a good standard, you will still need a certain budget. Here are some budget ideas:

Small budget. 120 DT per day approximately. Small budgets will find something to sleep in for about 40 to 60 TND per night in the big and medium-sized cities; be aware that there is always at least one hotel in the medina that is in the same price range, if you are not too concerned about comfort. For the really tight budgets, there are youth hostels for about ten dinars a bed in a dormitory. You can eat for 20 DT in local restaurants, 8 or 10 DT minimum if you are satisfied with a snack. The rest will be used to travel by bus, rental car (cheap but rudimentary with accidents regularly), and cabs (ask for the meter systematically to avoid scams).

Average budget. 300 DT per day approximately. Many mid-range hotels at 120 DT per night on average, with sometimes even excellent surprises (especially out of season). As for the food, many establishments of good category propose meals at 50 DT which will allow you to taste a more refined and varied cuisine. The rest of the budget will be used for travel by train, bus and cab.

Big budget. 500 DT per day approximately. At this price, you will be spoilt for choice! Luxury hotel at about 200 TND per night and good restaurants at 80 TND per meal on average in the program, you will move in rented car.
