The Greek national railway network is far from covering the whole country, and many important cities do not even have a station, especially in the west of the country. The trains themselves are not very comfortable and are very often slow (50 km/h on average). Be aware that the archaeological sites of the country, which attract so many tourists, are very poorly served, and the relay of buses is then essential. The train is however very cheap in Greece.
