Time difference Spain

There is no time difference between France and Spain. But there will be nevertheless a time difference as regards the hours of meal. We have breakfast from 8am to 10am, lunch from 2pm to 4pm and dinner from 9pm. And this is true no matter where you are in Spain. Also keep in mind that between 2pm and 5pm, 90% of the shops are closed. You can take advantage of this time to take a nap or enjoy the " comida fuerte" , the most important mid-day meal for a Spaniard.

Opening hours Spain

To see / To do Spain

Museums are often closed on Mondays. Some monuments are open intermittently, but most open from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 8pm, 1 hour later in summer. The variations are greater in the smaller villages, so it is best to check their precise opening hours, often updated on their website. They are most visited in the morning, especially by groups. Prefer the afternoon if you want to be more quiet. Off-season, access is faster. Beware of the closing hours of the ticket offices, often from ½ hour to ¾ of an hour before the closing of the place.

Enjoying yourself Spain

The Spanish schedules are different from ours: from 2 to 4 pm for the lunch, the most important one, the " comida fuerte ", and from 9 pm for the evening meal. The times are sometimes a little different in the small villages (1 to ½ hour earlier). In the big cities, restaurants are often closed on Sunday nights and Mondays. And the best ones, part of August. In the inland villages or the very touristy destinations on the coast, they sometimes close out of season or only open in the evening or on weekends.

(To) please yourself Spain

Don't wait until Saturday afternoon to do your shopping, because most shops are closed, except for the very touristy ones. Small shops are generally open from 10am to 2pm and from 5pm to 8pm (with a one-hour delay in summer). Department stores are open every day except Sunday, and sometimes until 10pm (holidays or sales).

Get out Spain

Flamenco shows can be seen from 7pm until 10pm, lasting about 1.5 hours. Other shows, plays and concerts are usually scheduled around 9pm. For discos, it will be later, since the Spanish saying goes: " no hay ningún ambiante antes de las 2 ", no atmosphere before 2 am. And the party goes on until at least 6 am. Then it will be time to emerge for the first chocolate con churros. We go out mostly on Friday and Saturday. And practically all week in summer.
