NHK (Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai), Japan's only public broadcasting group, began broadcasting in 1925 and launched its own television channel in 1953. Its international channel NHK World is also popular. As for NHK World Japan's website, it has a French section, with news, content about the country, on-demand programs and "Le japonais en douceur" Japanese lessons. There is also a French radio station with news and several programmes in French. Disaster information is also updated.
