FÊTE DU TRAVAIL

Celebrated on May^1st. Like everywhere in the post-Soviet world, it is a public holiday. Many services close their doors for the occasion (banks, post offices etc.) but most stores, bazaars and everything related to tourism remain active. It is mainly a holiday to be seen by the Russian big brother, because as far as the labor code and labor laws in Uzbekistan are concerned, there would obviously be much more to do... So don't expect to see parades and demonstrations!
