NOWROUZ

It's the biggest Iranian party. Nowrouz means "new day" and celebrates the early spring. This is the Fire and Persian New Year, now celebrated in Iran, Afghanistan and the Kurds. We visit family, neighbours and friends; there is a table where the seven elements are represented, and the children receive gifts. The party lasts days, and the first four days are public holidays.
