Time difference Argentina

The time difference with France is 4 hours during the Argentinean summer (inverted with respect to ours) and 5 hours during the winter. So, in January, when it is 8pm in Paris, it is 4pm in Argentina. On the other hand, in July, when it is 8pm in Paris, it is 3pm in Argentina

Opening hours Argentina

To see / To do Argentina

Between the big urban centres and the great desert expanses, you can imagine that life does not flow at the same pace for everyone. On the city side, shops open from 10am to 8pm on weekdays (later in shopping centres) and generally stay open on Saturdays until 2pm. On the other hand, everything is closed on Sundays. The lunch break is often between 1 and 3 pm, depending on the case. In the interior of the country (especially in the North-East and North-West), a lunch break or siesta is de rigueur (even in some parts of Patagonia!). In this case, it is very difficult to find a shop open between 12h and 17h

Enjoying yourself Argentina

Whether it is in winter or summer, the catering hours vary as they do all over the world. In urban centres, restaurants often have fixed hours and do not offer continuous service, so you can have lunch from 12:00 to 3:00 pm and dinner from 8:00 to 11:00 pm. In Buenos Aires you can eat at almost any time of the day or night. There's no need to show up too early, as most of the restaurants don't open until 9pm. Most of the time the kitchen can then be served until 1am! In certain regions of Patagonia, in El Chaltén or Ushuaia for example, some establishments close their doors in winter and only reopen in high season: in some towns you will sometimes have no choice, only one address will be ready to welcome you. You should also know that for dinner, restaurants never fill up before 8pm, especially in Bariloche where raclette and fondue machines only start to heat up after 10pm.

Take a break Argentina

Whether it's gourmet tea, homemade beer or a glass of wine, there's no time like the present to take a break and enjoy the delights of Argentinean beverages! Cafés and tea rooms are usually open from morning until late afternoon. During the high season, the doors are open every day of the week and sometimes even on Sundays, but beware, the opening hours become more random between April and September. The bars all have the same opening hours: for example, cafés that are converted into bars in the evening or establishments that open their doors in the late afternoon. However, especially in Buenos Aires, they are open until late at night, often until 3 or 4 am! In more remote areas, such as Patagonia, the bars are open every day in high season but the pace usually slows down in the low season, especially at the beginning of the week.

(To) please yourself Argentina

In Argentina, in the larger cities, shops are generally open from 9-10am to 7-8pm Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, most shops close at around 2pm (no afternoon shopping as in Europe), with the exception of the shops in shopping malls which often close at 10pm during the week and remain open on Saturday afternoons. However, to do some shopping and start your souvenir collection, it is more convenient and common to go to the craft markets (called paseos artisanos), which are usually open every day during the week until 6 or 7 pm or the more common artesanos ferias on weekends.

Get out Argentina

Cultural events and other performing arts are part of the excitement of the capital Buenos Aires: the city never sleeps! Clubs, milongas and other boliches (nightclubs) are numerous and can only close their doors at dawn. Mainly located in the city, nightclubs are generally open from Thursday to Saturday from 10pm to 3am (later for afterhours). In remote areas, establishments close much earlier, especially in Patagonia.
