TODOROVDEN

It is the feast of the horse, or the passover of the horse, in honor of Saint Theodore (represented in icon painting by a rider on a white horse), the protector of horses. The horse race organized on this occasion is called kochia or domie. Special breads, kravai, in the shape of horseshoes, hoofs or small horses are prepared for the neighbors and for the animals' food as a wish for good health and fertility. This festival is celebrated every year in the villages of Blatetz (Sliven region) and Voyvodinovo (near Plovdiv).
