It is also a religious holiday dedicated to Saints Cyril and Methodius, venerated in the Christian Church. It is an opportunity to commemorate the creation of the Slavic-Bulgarian Cyrillic alphabet and the Bulgarian national awakening. Schoolchildren sing the hymn Vurvi narode vuzrodeni and festivities are organized.
