Archaeology handicrafts and science and technology sites to visit Cameroon

The Lala camps (less interesting than those in Cameroon, however), in the region of Elog-Batindi, and the village of Bipindi, about 70 km from Kribi, can be the occasion for a pleasant walk in the region. The Pygmies of Bipindi are particularly famous for their artistic know-how and their traditional medicine that they pass from father to son.

Located 38 km from Ebolowa, this village is the base for the pilot community ecotourism project run by AFRECAM, Alliance des femmes de la réserve de Campo Ma'an et de ses environs.

This project offers you the opportunity to stay with local people in dry earth and bamboo houses, enjoy local cuisine and take guided excursions.

AFRECAM's objectives: The first objective is to raise awareness of fair and responsible tourism among local populations.

Proposed activities. Visit to Campo Ma'an National Park.

Minimized impact. Waste is sorted, organic matter is used as fertilizer for agriculture, bottles are reused by the local population and aluminum cans and bags are brought back to town and placed in processing depots.

Storm lamps are used for lighting.

Local population. The tourist industry employs at least 80% of the working population, according to a distribution of roles based on individual skills. Prices for services are set by the local population themselves, and income from tourism is redistributed between the various service providers and the village development committee for new projects in the village. The guides are natives of the village and neighbouring villages, accompanied by ecoguards required by the park services. The reception hut sells handicrafts made by the villagers themselves.
