ECOFAC is a programme funded by the European Union and managed by the European Commission. It has partnered with the Association of the Central African Protected Areas Network (PARC) to preserve and enhance the natural resources of the forests of Central Africa. In 2007 ECOFAC IV covers seven countries: Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Sao Tome and Príncipe, for a phase ending in 2010. In 2008, the Global Environment Facility allocated an envelope of more than 18 billion CFA francs, mainly for the support of protected areas management institutions. In Gabon, the programme ends in the Lopé Park.
