The health crisis has not prevented the French from going on holiday, and the government has in this regard recommended that travel in France be given priority during the summer of 2020. However, some French people have decided to travel abroad to recharge their batteries, especially in Europe where borders are open again. Where are we with the rest of the world? Visas? Restrictions? Here's an update on the situation.

Due to an upsurge in the epidemic in France in recent weeks, the United Kingdom has decided to impose a 14-day quarantine on travellers coming from the country. This also applies to travellers from the Netherlands, Monaco and Malta. Steps are also to be taken on the British government's website. France is now on the orange list for Tunisia, which may require a negative PCR test upon entry into the country. Since 18 August, Iceland has also required the French and other international tourists to carry out two PCR tests (one on arrival at the airport and a second at a screening centre) and to quarantine them between the two tests and until the results of the second test are available. Other countries that now impose quarantine on the French include Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Norway, with a duration of 10 to 14 days. In the case of the Seychelles, the French have not been allowed to travel there since 17 August.

Concerning visas, the online visa agency RapideVisa updates daily the entry formalities for each destination. Among the latest news, the Consulate and Visa Center have reopened in Russia since August 19th, for private visit and work visas, but the issuance of other visas (tourist, business and e-visa) remains suspended. Issuance of e-visa is also still suspended until further notice in Sri Lanka. On the African continent, e-visas and visas are issued without any particular conditions in Kenya, but a negative covid-19 PCR test of less than 3 days is requested at embarkation and arrival; Cameroon asks to present the result of a negative covid-19 test of less than 4 days, plus a negative covid-19 PCR test of less than 3 days requested at embarkation and arrival; Tanzania has been issuing visas without particular conditions since 5 August.
