Discover the medieval city
Steps: Châtillon-Sur-Chalaronne
Start your day with a stroll through the medieval town of Châtillon-sur-Chalaronne. Stroll through the cobbled streets, admire the half-timbered houses, the majestic Halles and the little bridges over the Chalaronne.
Visit the Hôtel-Dieu and its apothecary, not forgetting the Jardin des Simples , home to different species of emblematic plants.
After a good morning's walking and exploring, you'll have well earned a unique lunch onthe banks of the Chalaronne, at the Gourmandine restaurant !
Finally, before setting off for a digestive stroll, make a detour to the chocolate factory of Vincent Durant (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) to discover his unique creations (such as Bresse enamels), which you can enjoy at snack time at the Arboretum, a preserved area where different plant and animal species cohabit to recharge your batteries and enjoy the calm of the Dombes.

Head to the Parc des Oiseaux for an unforgettable day: immersive aviaries, bird feeding, aerial show.
After lunch (in a restaurant or as a picnic), take in the "Birds in Flight" show, a mix of enchantment and magic, every day at 3:30 pm. A veritable firework display of color and lightness!
Finally, if you feel like it, take a stroll to the observatory at the Etang du Grand Birieux (less than 10 minutes from Villars-les-Dombes by car) to observe some of the region's 286 species of birds.
