Dugong Snorkeling aboard a luxury catamaran or an indigenous banca

Aboard an indigenous outrigger banca or our motorized sailing catamaran Admiral 38, "Tribal Adventures" offers you an unforgettable experience: snorkeling in the company of a dugong, or sea cow. This day trip takes you to Dugong Bay, north of Busuanga, a picturesque habitat dotted with islands and home to over 30 dugongs - the largest family of sea cows in the Philippines. Spotting dugongs, let alone diving with one or more of them, is not guaranteed, and when there is no encounter, the beauty of the coral reefs, turtles and fish is a consolation.

Day 1

Description of the dayDugong Snorkeling aboard a luxury catamaran or an indigenous banca

6:30 am: Pick-up at your hotel in Coron. 8:00 am: Departure of the Tribal Adventures catamaran for an island-to-island cruise and snorkeling among the dugongs. About an hour from Palawan SandCastles, you'll arrive off the island of Calauit, where we'll meet up with an indigenous Tagbanua guide. We do this because the dugong's habitat lies within the territory of the Tagbanua people, whose traditions and spiritual beliefs give them a special affinity with manatees.

We'll sail along the Calauit coast for around 30 minutes before reaching the famous dugong sanctuary. Here we'll wait for the dugong to emerge from the water, before diving back in. An ideal cruise, by catamaran or banca, ends with an excursion to the Midpid Islands: at low tide, you'll be amazed by the sinuous, exposed sandbar that links the three islands.

But the wonder doesn't stop there. After arriving at SandCastles, you can take a dip in the fresh spring water pool, sipping a beer.

Possible places to visit: Palawan sandcastles, Dugong Bay, Midpid Islands
