Day 1: Skiing in the Carpathians

Steps: Bukovel

The Carpathians remain a popular winter destination for Ukrainians. Ski resorts welcome thousands of local and foreign skiers every year. The infrastructure put in place is quite well developed (modern chairlifts, slopes arranged according to different levels of difficulty...). Resorts like Bukovel are overflowing with amateurs and professional skiers. The advantage of the Carpathians lies in the extraordinary natural setting of the region and the hospitality of the inhabitants who will impress you with their simplicity and generosity!
If you go there at the end of December or beginning of January, you will have the chance to attend the end-of-year celebrations. Snow, mountains and winter festivities: what better way to celebrate Novyi Rik (New Year) and Rizdvo (Christmas)?

Day 2: The opera tour

Steps: Odessa, Lviv

Ukraine, as well as its neighbour Russia, is one of the leading destinations for opera lovers. The stay can start in the capital, Kiev, which has one of the most beautiful operas in the world. Built in 1919, it has since been restored. During the season, several classical pieces are on the program, from the national to the international repertoire. The academic operetta theatre, founded in 1934, will impress you with the variety of its repertoire and the beauty of its premises.
The stay can then be extended by the unmissable opera of Lviv, in the west of the country. Built between 1897 and 1900, in a Viennese Neo-Renaissance style and with a particularly elaborate and original facade, it has recently been renovated. In addition, the interior décor is of rare beauty: paintings, sculptures, gilding and elaborate mouldings. Just like in Kiev, the program is classic and the tickets are at a very low price.
The next stop is Odessa, near the Black Sea. The opera and ballet theatre was built between 1884 and 1887. Its composite and imposing style, recognizable by the Melpomene chariot that surmounts the main entrance, makes it an absolutely sumptuous monument. Closed for works for several years, it reopened in 2008 and is once again shining brightly.

Day 3: Discover Ukrainian cuisine

Steps: Poltava

This stay is for amateurs and enthusiasts looking for an alliance between the pleasures of the palate and the discovery of new flavours. Indeed, Ukraine has something to excite the taste buds of the most demanding gourmands, by offering a very varied offer for all tastes.
However, as in many countries, each region has its own specialities. To discover all the country's cuisine, you will have to travel!
The gastronomic tour begins in Kiev where you can enjoy the must-sees of Ukrainian cuisine (Kiev-style chops, varenyky, borscht, etc.). Then head towards Poltava and its restaurants, which will be able to offer you dozens of variations of galouchky (bread dumplings) that accompany a large majority of dishes.
To the west, the cuisine of the Carpathians, very copious, will satisfy the most gourmet mountain people. Everything is there: grated potatoes, stuffed fish and meat, pancakes, and of course the famous brynza (fresh cheese, made from sheep's milk). In addition, the hospitality and authenticity of the region's restaurants will give you the impression of an immersion in the local people's homes.
Finally, discover the cuisine of the south. The famous forschmak as well as the sweet odessitis are two specialities to be enjoyed absolutely. It is also in the south that you can taste a typical dish of Tatar cuisine: the Cheboureki.
