Discover le Haut-Rhin

Since January1, 2021, the Haut-Rhin is part of the European Collectivity of Alsace (CeA), along with the Bas-Rhin. Historically created on March 4, 1790, the Haut-Rhin covers 3,525 km² in the south of Alsace and is part of the Grand Est region. It borders the departments of Bas-Rhin to the north, Vosges to the west and Territoire de Belfort to the south. It shares a border with Germany to the east along the Rhine, and a border with Switzerland to the south. It is bordered on the west by the Hautes-Vosges, its highest point is the Grand Ballon (1,424 m altitude). Its two main cities are Colmar and Mulhouse. Your journey in the Haut-Rhinois can start in the north with the Val d'Argent, an atypical territory with a great historical and artistic wealth. You are then free to go down south to the Sundgau (land of choice for bicycle touring) by following the mythical Route des Vins d'Alsace for 170 km!
