According to Prime Minister Nguyên Tan Dung, its commissioning opens up new opportunities for the Mekong Delta, with positive repercussions for the economy, defence, security and economic integration. The region is more easily linked to the Centre, the North, the countries of the region and the world. The new 7 km long Vo Van Kiet road, named after a former Prime Minister, connects the airport with the city centre.
