The estate has been nestled in the Dolenjska hills for generations. Today, Martin and Tanja carry on the ancestral tradition by planting new vineyards in a modern winery with the help of François, a renowned Champagne oenologist who has injected a new dynamic. His mastery of the traditional method revealed unsuspected potential in Slovenian grape varieties, notably žametna črnina. Thanks to this subtle alliance between Slovenian tradition and French expertise, they produce unique sparkling wines.

Cellar visits in German or English with paid tastings of three to five wines are by appointment only. The whole is accompanied by a very poetic slide show of about twenty minutes in the glory of the vineyard. The largest cask in the cellar has a capacity of 22,115 l. These bowels are home to the oldest wine in the country, a "zlata trta" from 1917, whose bottle can be estimated at around €1,000. There's only ten bottles left. This family vineyard has been cultivated since 1832, seven generations, and is located in the heart of an ideal region for the production of fresh and fruity wines. Emerging winemaker who keeps on accumulating distinctions and medals during the last world competitions, Matjaz, the producer, will receive you in the old building in front of his wine cellars. In the midst of an excellent wine-growing estate, perched on a hill, you can enjoy wine tasting on the outskirts of a building over 350 years old. If the winding roads seemed sparsely traveled until now, you'd be surprised to find so many people on the terraces. Tastings with traditional dishes from the Prlekije region are available by prior arrangement. The Puklavec family has been producing wine on these lands since 1934.

The Marof winery was established in 1905. The owners have a very precise knowledge of wine which they will be happy to share with you through a successful sensory experience. On the ground floor, a tasting room offers a breathtaking view of the vast vineyards and the surrounding countryside. Amazing wine cellars dug into the sand await you in this part of the country. At the home of Janez and Mihela Šekoranja, you'll discover this unusual place, which descends up to 12 m underground at a constant temperature (4°C at the lowest point). There are other cellars of the same type, smaller but much older. This winegrower will introduce you to his white wines and his Gamay grapes, which can be found on the tables of some of the most famous places in the USA (West Point Military Academy, UN).

The particularity of the estate is the Diona 2006 vintage which received the silver medal Traminec SJI 2006, Decanter prize in London in 2009. Diona is a dry sparkling wine produced according to classic Champagne methods. Other favourites of the house: the traminer and the muscat ottonel. The winery can be visited by prior reservation and is worth the detour for the attractive panorama it offers from the hill on which it is located. A family tradition since 1938.
