THAIPUSAM

It is surely one of the most impressive festivals in the Hindu calendar, celebrated in the Batu Caves in Kuala Lumpur. The festival is forbidden in India, because the faithful inflict abuse on themselves before their procession: cheeks and tongues pierced with needles, hooks in the chest and back on which limes are hung (symbol of purity); large metal structures, about 40 kg, attached with the help of peaks and hooks planted in the skin... the list of possibilities is long. The devotee follows a strict preparation of 48 days.
