TOONZIE" exhibition based on Xavier Bouyssou's book published by Editions 2024
In this, his first comic book, Xavier Bouyssou tells the story of TOONZIE, a guru-hero in a future in which technology foments artificial dreams and humans are in search of a desperate, even abracadabratic utopia, provided it enables them to escape dreary reality. The story begins after the sect's golden age, when a dying Toonzie confesses to his number 2 that he lied: "The Toons don't exist. This pot-bellied, Looney Tunes-style Raël had until then brilliantly conceived his business of manipulating the masses: self-proclaimed Toon Master, he was the only human being spiritually awake enough to distinguish the Toons who levitate like doubles of our souls above us. Better still, his prophecy was that he should die as old as possible in a natural way - and without ever running out of money, of course.

Xavier Bouyssou
Born after the fall of the Wall in Agen, land of the Musketeers, Xavier Bouyssou hesitated for a long time between running campsites and fulfilling his destiny as a comic strip artist. After studying fine arts in Toulouse and then at the Ecole Saint-Luc in Brussels, he had the chance to try his hand at both. Publishing hilarious comic strips on his Instagram account, he perfects his science of disguise come summer. With Toonzie, his first book, this unconditional Carl Barks fan is spoilt for choice. Ladies and gentlemen, Xavier Bouyssou is the future of comics.
