Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse, a ski resort in the Chartreuse massif, is at the heart of a European pilot study called TranStat. The aim of this project is to explore the reactions of elected representatives, professionals, residents and tourists to the impacts of climate change on their region, and to identify avenues for more sustainable tourism. With mid-altitude resorts facing major economic challenges, the need for significant intervention by local authorities is underlined to ensure their survival. This initiative comes at a time when the French Court of Auditors recently highlighted the financial difficulties of certain resorts, calling for a rethink of their economic model and their adaptation to current climatic challenges.
