The Maldives are very expensive and it is difficult, if not impossible, to find a night in a hotel for less than US$ 80 per night. In the island hotels, rates start at around US$200 per room in the middle season. Resorts will ask you to pay for your entire stay before you arrive. A deposit by credit card is usually required at the time of booking.

The tourist season is in full swing from December 15 to the Easter holidays. It is then imperative to book as soon as possible to not only hope for a room, but also to benefit from the best rates.

What's very local

With a few exceptions, the rooms in the resorts are actually bungalows for 2 people. Most resorts have larger bungalows, or even residences in the most luxurious hotels, with 2 or 3 rooms, allowing families or friends to stay together.

For food lovers

The rates are almost always "breakfast included". They are served in the form of generous and varied buffets until 10 or 11 am, which allows you to skip lunch.

Smokers

Smoking is not normally permitted in enclosed public areas in the Maldives. The hotel rooms are all non-smoking, but almost all have a balcony or terrace where smoking is allowed.
