Shops generally open at 10 am and close at 8 pm in the evening. Some supermarkets work 24/7, and small grocery stores close between 8pm and 11pm. You will find everything from Georgian to Western products.
In souvenir shops in Tbilisi, the price level is quite high compared to the local standard of living. You will be able to pay for your purchases by credit card. When travelling, locals sometimes set up small roadside stalls to sell their produce. They offer food, bread, local specialties, and handicrafts such as ceramics at unbeatable prices. Always bring small change to pay for your purchases.
Georgia is very rich in handicrafts: pack a large suitcase to have room to bring back your souvenirs. Fabrics, traditional costumes, scarves, spices, wines, chachas, gourmet products, carpets, jewellery, enamels, paints, children's toys, leather goods, tablecloths, locally made objects: you will be spoilt for choice.
