Magnificent in traditional costumes, the sailors parade with the musicians of the local harmony and the giants of Berck, Flip and Zabeth. Follow them, hoping that there are enough free places on the boats to participate in the blessing of the sea. The Marseillaise resounds during the stopover near the monument dedicated to the sailors who disappeared in the changing waters of the English Channel. A market of regional products and various festivities also take place during this weekend, such as jousting in the hunting basin and outings at sea.

FÊTE DE LA MER
Read moreSaint-Valery-sur-Somme has a rich history as a fishing port, so it is only natural that it celebrates the sea every summer. On the occasion of this festival, the very typical fishermen's quarter (the Courtgain) is transformed to pay homage to the missing sailors. The facades of the houses are then covered with 2,000 m of nets and multicoloured flowers. All kinds of events (exhibitions, concerts, procession and sheafing at sea, etc.) also await visitors. A local festival not to be missed!
