In 1946, Auguste Crambes, a former manufacturer of felt hats in the Aude region, founded the Crambes company with his wife Marie. He revolutionized hat making by creating canvas hats, based on an idea of assembling pieces of fabric on cork. With 200 models of hats and caps, the company also offers the major French luxury brands to have their hats made in Caussade.
