L'ÉCHOPPE DU PAYS

Gourmet products local specialities and wines
5/5
1 review

Here is a beautiful shop held by Audrey, which abounds in local and/or organic products. Honey, jams, syrups, cookies, cereals, olive paste, tea, wine, poichichade, gingerbread... enough to bring back some souvenirs of the Vesubian gastronomy in your suitcases. Le Petit Futé was tempted by an aperitif made with wine and elderflowers, produced by the farm Le Mérinos in Utelle. You will also find essential oils, cosmetics and local crafts. Moreover, Audrey serves you coffees, teas and cold drinks on the terrace.

FERME DE LA DORGANE

Regional grocery cheese and cream shops

For several centuries, farmers have developed a pastoral activity essentially oriented towards cheese production. All stages of production are carried out in the mountain cheese dairies. In the Dorgane district, several farms are located, notably that of Annie and Gérard Sic who raise goats and dairy sheep. The road stops at 600 m from the farm. Finish on foot! On the spot you can buy all the products of the farm: tommes and cheeses, eggs, vegetables, fruits and jams.

LA CABANE À SAFRAN

Specialized grocery

In 2010, Mélanie and Christophe moved to the village to grow saffron at an altitude of 1000 m. The farm, which also includes plots of vegetables and red fruits, is entirely organic. Their meticulous work allows them to harvest the precious pistils of this violet flower, which can be found on the finest tables in the region, such as the Louis XV in Monaco. They also offer fresh or dried mountain mushrooms (ceps, chanterelles, morels), fresh eggs and homemade jams.

LA FERME DE TETOU

Regional grocery cheese and cream shops

Tetou was the nickname of the owner's grandfather, and she wanted to pay tribute to him. A return to her roots, the need to evolve in nature and in contact with animals. She opted to raise goats, a relatively rare choice in a valley dominated by cows and sheep. With her 70-head herd, she makes cheese from April to October at the Venanson vacherie. The cheeses are very tasty, and customers are not mistaken: the 40 cheeses made every day sell like hotcakes.
