A large part of the 12th century abbey is privately owned and only opened on rare occasions. But it is possible to visit the abbey church, the Romanesque chapel of St. John and the park. From the square near the chapel, hiking trails lead into the countryside, towards the old quarries, the village of Andrivaux and its Templar traces, or the priory of Merlande, built at the same time as the abbey. Finally, it is in Chancelade that the skeleton of the Raymonden man was discovered... you must go to the Museum of Art and Archaeology of Périgord, in Périgueux, to know everything about our prehistoric ancestor.
