Mareuil-sur-Arnon is located about thirty kilometers southwest of Bourges. The green lentil of Berry is grown in this commune of the department of Cher. Mareuil's name is the Maro-ialon celtic, which means "great clearing". Mareuil would have already been inhabited in Gallo-Roman times. It was in 1379 that the name given to the commune, Maruihl, seemed to be closest to the present pronunciation of Mareuil. Before Maruihl, there was Marel in 1302 and Marolium in 1200. The first lord of Mareuil known is Ebrard of Issoudun around 1007. The church Notre-Dame-de-l 'Assomption can be admired in this commune of 500 inhabitants, witness several centuries of construction and redesign (xiie in the nineteenth century), but also some ruins in ruins of an old castle. The lake is the place of various activities: fishing, sailing and others.
