Culan, at the southern end of the Cher département, is a small town with fewer than 700 inhabitants. In the past, the parish was located in Prahas, 2 km away. When the castle was built in the 12th century, the population gradually moved around the fortification. Built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river and the Arnon valley, the current edifice replaced other buildings destroyed over time. In addition to the château, the so-called Roman bridge (of medieval origin) to the south of the town and the 55-metre-high viaduct are well worth a visit. Bungee jumping is regularly practiced on the latter by thrill-seekers.
