The island of Arz is one of the largest inhabited islands in the gulf. It is an island of sailors, as its museum dedicated to maritime life explains. Wild and preserved, it is also an island where life is good, thanks to a mild climate and green landscapes. It lends itself marvellously to a timeless stay, where you let the desires of nature guide your days. You can go hiking, lazing around, water sports... You can taste the organic products of the local farmers and craftsmen, and enjoy the conviviality of the surroundings. Formerly a landmark for long-distance sailors, it has become one of the most popular destinations in Brittany. Its motto, "Arzao Hag Arzam", which translates as "Stand up and hold on", reflects the character of the islanders who, until the beginning of the 20th century, were a community of coasting masters and long-distance sailors with a strong character. Disembark and take the main road to the village on the heights of the island. Then by the points of Billehervé, Ménézig, Leos, Brouel or Berno you will discover the natural beauties. There remains a very rich and ancient heritage: the 11th century church, classified as a historical monument, the priory adjoining the 17th century building, the manor houses of Kernoël, the mill of Béluré, the tide mill of Berno. In the village of Péréno, you will discover a 16th century farmhouse near a neo-Italian house from the inter-war period. Neolithic remains from the sites of Pen Raz, Gréavo or Brouel are near the three dolmens of the tip of Leos discovered in 1884.
