Formerly named Notre-Dame Island, she was occupied until the end of the th century by hermits of the order of Saint-Antoine, Des and Carmelites du Guildo, who lit fire at night to guide the gabares and barges on the Rance, and sounded the bell in bad weather. Nowadays, the island has become a protected natural reserve, which houses tadornes, brown and silver gulls, hérons herons or even garzettes crested. These islands are forbidden to the public in the spring and summer due to the numerous nests there.
