Saint-Domineuc (2 500 inhabitants) is named after Lan-Donnec or Domnec, a Breton monk. The site was occupied from the antiquity of Saint-Domineuc, as evidenced by the Gallic medals trapped in a vase of black land, as well as the Celtic stone and stone Celtic axes. A primitive ford passage is discovered during the route of the Rennes-Saint-Malo expressway. In the first half of the century, a small monastery was created by a Breton monk, Dom, who came from Britain. This religious building is the origin of the modern commune. In the th century, Terra Sancti Domell depended on the abbey of Saint Georges de Rennes. In 1665, the nuns of St. George Abbey still enjoyed the great bailiwick of Saint-Domineuc. In 1858, the congregation of the Immaculate Conception of Saint-Méen-le-Grand founded a communal school of girls with three nuns. Classrooms will subsequently be transformed into a stable. The inhabitants, who live mainly from agriculture, enjoy a situation conducive to trade, on the road route Rennes-Saint-Malo and on the canal of Ille-et-Rance.Today, the village uses its environment and, above all, the presence of the canal and draws its cue from the game through green and river tourism: Green lane, slipway, hiking or mountain biking, canoeing base to sail on the canal, sports course…Water stop in a green and peace environment with picnic table and canal of the recently built canal.
