Liffré is inextricably linked with the forest of Rennes: the clearing of the latter was the reason for the town's foundation in the 13th century. Rich in several habitats, the forest is home to a wide variety of flora and fauna (bats, amphibians, blackbirds and cormorants...). It is criss-crossed by footpaths ideal for a variety of family walks, as well as an ecological trail near the Maffrais pond. There are also megalithic sites to discover, such as the Daguinais dolmen and the Carrefour de la Grande Lune megaliths. The Etang du Moulin offers an ornithological observatory.
