Nestled in the heart of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel, a land of legends, Cherrueix takes its name from the word "charrue" (plough), as it was the first village in the Dol marshes to be ploughed. With a population of just over 1,000, Cherrueix is protected from the onslaught of the sea by the Duchesse Anne dike (12th century), which has enabled agriculture to develop considerably. Agriculture also plays an important role in this coastal village, as evidenced by its many mills, evidence of the great cereal-growing activity in the Dol marshes. Cherrueix's great specialty is sand yachting!
