Ideally situated on the RN 165, the main road artery serving southern Finistère, equidistant from Quimper, Concarneau and Pont-Aven, Rosporden is a medium-sized commune that a few years ago was a major industrial and commercial center, with vegetable, shoe and metallurgy factories. Today, Rosporden is more of a residential commune, which has preserved its rich past, including a railway station with a respectable level of traffic. It has also managed to preserve its natural heritage, including the famous ponds that provide a water reserve for the river Aven. It's thanks to these that the town has been named "Cité des Étangs".
