References to this winegrowing village go back as far as 786. Before that, in Roman times, Wintzenheim was a stopping-off place, as evidenced by the remains of a villa on the Hengst hillside and coins found nearby. The Knights of Malta had a chapel here, as did the Château Thurnburg, now Wintzenheim's town hall. You can admire its beautifully sculpted facade. Don't miss the ruins of the Château de Pflixbourg dating from the early 13th century, the beautiful winegrowers' houses built between the 16th and 18th centuries, and the Fontaine de la Vierge dating from 1756.
