Pont-Aven, the birthplace of the Ecole de Pont-Aven created by Paul Gauguin just over a century ago, is THE city of painters par excellence. It's also a place where gourmets will never forget the incomparable taste of the famous butter cakes. The town owes its name to the river that runs through it, the Aven. A river with the appearance of a small, capricious torrent, its waters meander through large boulders, giving the town a special cachet. Numerous artists, poets and painters are attracted by the thousand and one colors of the landscape, the mild climate and the exceptional luminosity of the site.
