The municipality, which was one of the first Breton parishes with the arrival of the Bretons on the peninsula between the 5th and 7th centuries, contains many remains that attest to the human presence on the site, dating back to prehistoric times. The Plomeur chapel became famous when the "red hat" rebels chose it on July 2, 1675, to adopt and promulgate their book of demands, which went down in history as the "Peasant Code", and has since become an emblematic high place of this revolt. Today, Plomeur, which extends the bay of Audierne to the tip of the Torche, a highly renowned surf spot, benefits from several attractions. Its main economic activities are tourism, agriculture and bulb farming.
