A few lines are not enough to describe Ushant! Only kilometres away from the mainland. However, you have to wait 1880 to see the first regular connection of a steam. It must be said that its approaches are feared. Reefs, écueils, fog, strong marine currents are known by mariners worldwide. The installation of several headlights is better understood at its end. Two earthen lighthouses, Creac'h and Stiff, accompanied by three sea lighthouses (Kereon, the Horse and Nividic), la the coast. The Stiff Tower, 70 metres high and built after the shipwreck of the Amoco Cadiz in 1982, completes the system while monitoring the railway in Ushant. Now automated, they always serve as benchmarks for sailors. Despite the harsh of îlienne life, it did not prevent men from settling there. Moreover, with its 1 500 hectares of land, it is the largest of the islands of the Mer d'Iroise. Several trails and roads allow you to turn around, knowing that they represent about 45 kilometres. There are wild and grandiose places: cliffs, steep ribs… The village of Lampaul concentrates the majority of homes and shops. However, there are a multitude of hamlets, two chapels and eighteen wayside scattered throughout the island. As for vegetation, composed of ajoncs, heather, agapanthes and peat, it is rase. Only a few weeping willows found roots near old washing and fountains. Finally, migratory birds and grey seals also find refuge on the island. To immerse yourself with the atmosphere, the ideal thing to spend a few days there!
