LES GÂTEUSES

Coffee shop and tea room

Les Gâteuses is the story of two long-time friends who share a dream: to open a business together. And to our delight, it's a tearoom offering some of the best cakes in Brest. The tea and coffee are excellent, but that's not all: at lunchtime, Margaux and Marie prepare a choice of two delicious dishes, one of which is vegetarian. In a cosy atmosphere, everything has been thought of to ensure that you have a lovely moment of indulgence and relaxation. Welcomed by the smiles of our friendly hosts, there's something for everyone!

LE TIR NA N'OG

Music and entertainment bar
5/5
3 reviews

This pub, located at the bottom of the rue de Siam, more Celtic than exclusively Irish, offers a wide choice of beers (including 13 different types of pressure mixing Breton beers and Irish cider) but above all a typical atmosphere. The hall sometimes turns into a concert hall, when an Irish music group settles in the back! You will also appreciate its terrace, with a small view of the harbour. During the weekday lunch period, the pub serves a daily special (and fresh fries). An undeniable place to experience, a must in Brest, for a relaxed atmosphere! Note: Every 15 days from 9pm on Wednesdays, the Tir na n'og fills up with its Pub Quizz, a small general culture competition.

LE GUEULE DE BOIS

Beer bar
5/5
1 review

This beer bar is located behind the Halles Saint-Louis, next to the grand staircase. Wood dominates in this cosy establishment, where you'll obviously come for a good local beer and a plate of charcuterie and cheese. You'll have a wide choice of draught beers (the bar has 12 taps) and bottled beers, including several local ones (Terenez, for example). But don't worry, the bar also serves wine, for those who don't like bubbles. And when the weather's fine, you can take advantage of the terrace for after-work drinks, or enjoy a coffee on Sunday mornings, after a stroll through the nearby St Louis market!

Welcome to an atypical address, where Maï-Line and her smile, welcome you all year round to offer delicious teas and hot chocolates accompanied by addictive pastries, a dish of the day for lunch and brunch on weekends. Open since 2018, the place is now part of the soul of the Recouvrance district and part of the great collective energy that drives its shopkeepers. With its cosy decor, you'll soon feel right at home, with books perched here and there to catch your eye. Of course, the hardest part will be leaving. So stay a little longer. BAROOMBAR

Bar and caf

The Baroombar, or rather the "Baroom" as they say in Brest itself, is a Brest institution! The style has remained rock and casual. From AC/DC to Mickaël Jackson, Matmatah or Grease, all the classics are there. On Saturday nights, the atmosphere is a little more "club", and the proposals to set the dancefloor on fire are more eclectic! This place with its unique style is ideal for a drink with friends. Beers, cocktails, soft drinks... Good time and atmosphere guaranteed. The welcome is cool, the team is young and dynamic. The decor is rock'n'roll: dark, in shades of red and black. A night bar in the centre of Brest!

THE DUBLINERS

Pub
4.5/5
2 reviews

It's the oldest Irish pub in Finistère! You will recognize it by its green facade painted with Celtic motifs. The Dubliners offers a fine selection of bottled beers and premium whiskies. On Tuesday evenings, musical quizzes set the mood upstairs! The bar is very cosy, you can enjoy a drink with friends in the downstairs room or upstairs, usually more lively. Major sporting events are broadcast there. Practical: a raised terrace allows smokers to go outside without staying on the pavement. Come and listen to good music with your friends and taste good beers! (In moderation of course!)

LES FAUVETTES

Beer bar
3.8/5
5 reviews

Located in the Saint-Martin district, not far from the church, this pub is a Brest institution! It takes its name from the warblers that chirped in the trees of the Saint-Martin wood in the 17th century. With its old-fashioned facade and wooden half-timbering, giving it the air of a tavern, it offers a warm decor and welcome. Considered by some to be the best beer bar in town, it's a meeting place for many gangs of friends, and all generations gather here for a pint. Definitely a place to go for an aperitif "à la brestôase".

As an added bonus, the place regularly organizes quiz nights, for all those who enjoy group games.

LA PETITE POÉSIE

Bar and caf
4.7/5
27 reviews
Closed - Open to 17h00

La Petite Poésie celebrated its 10th anniversary in September 2023! In the heart of the city center, this café-bar lives up to its name: here, quotations and a portrait of Rimbaud adorn the rough-hewn walls, while a mechanical bird flies over the counter. Situated close to the Place de la Liberté, their terrace attracts the youth of Brest, who come to the "Petite Po", as it's called here, to chat and have a drink in a warm atmosphere. If you're feeling a bit peckish, you'll be delighted with their hearty platters, unless you prefer their French fries with cheddar or paprika. We appreciate the young team's warm welcome and the many events organized throughout the year.

This gay and lesbian bar, open to everyone, is a perfect place to celebrate! Close to the military arsenal, it is not uncommon to meet with beautiful military personnel: What more than one! All the excuses are good for breaking up! There are regularly themed evenings. Nice decor, warm atmosphere in the bar, but also billiards where you're fighting for the queue, a little Zen lounge, and consos not at all!

LE TEMPLE DU PHARAON

Coffee shop and tea room

The Temple of the Pharaoh is a little bit of the East in the heart of Brest. Mamdouh Ibrahim's tea room is a welcoming and warm place, just like its Egyptian owner. Let yourself be tempted by the many organic teas flavoured in front of you with fresh products (mint, hibiscus, orange, cinnamon, etc.) or by fresh fruit cocktails. To accompany your drink, don't miss a good Middle Eastern pastry. You can also taste the dishes, which are homemade and organic, such as sausage rougail, for example. You can even order a custom-made dish. And to entertain you, the Temple of the Pharaoh offers various chess sets, cards, etc. and organizes every Saturday or Friday evening world dance shows (oriental, Bollywood, etc.). A little something extra, the shop side of the living room, with shelves teeming with objects from Egyptian craftsmanship!

So for a little cream, an aperitif or a small snack, don't hesitate. There is also a nice little wine cellar for you to enjoy, for those who like it. This lounge bar welcomes you in a pleasant decor furnished with leather sofas and armchairs. It's a concept bar well known by Brest travellers who often take the plane to go to different cities in France or abroad. An ideal place to consume Breton specialities (pancakes, crêpes, cider and beers...). You compose your own formula and pay only for the number of dishes chosen and not for the composition. LE BALTO

Neighborhood bar

Located at the top of the rue Jean-Jaurès, the Balto is a very busy bar, despite the tram works that have driven most of the shopkeepers away from this end of the street. This welcoming establishment is also home to the press and on game nights it is crowded. The discussion is always going well, and, on the terrace as well as inside, it's often good to get together to come back to the news of the day. It is a dynamic bar that offers events such as contests and other events. This is a neighbourhood bar that fulfils its function perfectly: to create a bond! Its website is maintained as well as its Facebook page, a mark of the investment of the team that manages this bar!
