Brélès is situated at the top of a hill and at the bottom of the aber Ildut, a small coastal river running for 24 kilometres before flowing into the sea at Lanildut. In Brélès, one can be amazed by the beautiful granite houses dating from the 18th century and installed around the church. They belonged to rich shipowners, who prospered thanks to the flourishing maritime trade of that time. In the surrounding area, a few manor houses also bear witness to the wealth of certain local families. One thinks of the private castles of Kergroadez, Keroulas, Brescanvel, Bel Air or Keringar. Some owners regularly open their doors to visitors.
