A small town of less than 300 inhabitants, Runan takes its name from the Breton word "Run ar Gan" which means "silver hill". Runan was built on the site of an old Gallo-Roman village. Located between Tréguier and Guingamp, the town has long been an important stopover for pilgrims on their way to Santiago de Compostela or for Tro Breizh pilgrims.
