Preserved from seaside tourism, poor in beaches, the peninsula of Plougrescant has remained wild and agricultural. The western end of the peninsula, between the Pointe du Château and Porz Scaff, is impressive, with its jagged shape, reefs and large granite blocks. On windy days, the waves break powerfully in the chasm, a deep fault between the rocks, creating a most grandiose spectacle. Nearby, on the edge of a brackish water lagoon formed by pebbled strips, is the famous house between the rocks of Castel Meur. To the east, on the Jaudy side, the banks are calmer, lined with oyster beds.
