Chapel in a quite enchanting environment, near a menhir, with a bell tower of Beaumanoir style, typical of the Trégor

Chapel of the XVIth century, certainly the most beautiful of the village, in a completely enchanting environment! Its size and its architecture give it the appearance of a church lost in the middle of the countryside. Its bell tower is in the Beaumanoir style, typical of the Trégor region. Built between 1575 and 1631, the building was constructed a few steps from a menhir (which was later planted in the axis of the nave). Christianized pagan cult, people came to relieve their pains by rubbing their limbs against the small menhir, in front of the chapel. Some people saw their back or kidney pains disappear as if by magic by rubbing themselves against the magic stone. Wives in need of offspring, in contact with it, became miraculously fertile... The legendary virtues have disappeared from the popular imagination only gradually, from the middle of the 20th century. Perhaps there is some truth in this?

Magnificent chapel in an exceptional environment: this chapel is particularly typical and emblematic of the golden age of parish art in Brittany, is particularly in incoming with the Catholic Reform initiated by the Council of Trento. Founded in the second half of the 16th century, it is extended to the west in 1610 (bell tower Beaumanoir, typical of Trégor) and continues to be completed during following years (sundial in 1629, interior sand pits, fountain in 1631 sacred in 1632). Open to the public during events (exhibitions photos in July usually concerts, etc.), its visit is also worth for perfectly preserved setting: a 400 year bond behind!
