Louannec is "the campaign to the sea", as the slogan of the commune indicates. Formerly a rather agricultural vocation, Louannec was cleared from the Neolithic. The territory contains traces of gauloise occupation and the ancient remains of a salt boiler workshop. Ernest Renan set her summer residence from 1885 until his death in 1892. The small town of the coast of Granit Rose has now become a residential sector, expanding in recent years, benefiting from both Lannion employment and seaside tourism of Perros-Guirec.
